About Jewell Family Farm

At Jewell Family Farm, we blend the joy of music, the beauty of nature, and the wonder of farm life into unforgettable classes and camps for babies and children.

Created by a family of musicians, our programs nurture creativity, connection, and childhood delight, all set against the backdrop of our farm.

From singing with baby goats to dancing through the grass, every class is a celebration of growth, imagination, and joy.

Jewell Family Farm is conveniently located just 5 minutes north of Downtown Wilmington, but you'll feel miles away in this relaxed, rural setting.

Farmer Carter

Farmer Carter grew up at the Jewell Family Farm and now she lives around the corner with her husband, Clayton, and baby, Walker. After singing and performing with her family since childhood, motherhood provided an opportunity to do something she loves while helping Walker learn with others. She hopes that the parents will get as much out of our programming as the little ones.

Farmer Julia

Farmer Julia grew up on the family farm, wrestling goats and riding horses until supper time, when she diligently practiced her piano. After getting a formal education in music, she returned to the farm with her husband, Kelly, to raise their family.  As a professional pianist and composer, she has experience with music, movement, and choral groups of all ages.

About the Property

The Kerr-Walker house was built in 1905 for Colon Edgar Kerr, a truck farmer, and his wife Annie M. Newbury. It was purchased in 1937 by Robert Harris Walker, who was the foreman at Corbett Packing Company, and his wife Ruth Savage, a local historian (Farmer Julia's grandparents).

Before Rob and Ruth bought the house, it sat vacant for years, and had started to look pretty creepy. Neighborhood boys would dare each other to ride their horses down the long, narrow hallway at night. The property became known as Ghost Hill and, if your older kiddos might enjoy a ghost story or two, make sure to ask us for one sometime!
